Bully Busters is a Theatre In Education play
for children about the important issue of bullying. The play
has been successfully touring Perth schools since 1994 with
over 1.000 performances so far! It has also toured the South
West , the Wheatbelt and Geraldton. It has achieved critical acclaim
from both teachers and students alike, with many schools implementing
"Bully Free Zones" and "Bully Buster Groups" as suggested
by the play. It also received support from the Safety House Association
and was viewed at the opening ceremony of National Safety House
Day for four years.
Bully Busters! is an exploration of bullying,
its causes and how to deal with it. It includes song and
rap and deals with the issues of physical and verbal bullying,
racism, name calling, girls as bullies, acting like a victim, bullies
are victims too and strategies to stop bullying.
It was joined in 1997 by Bully Busters
Two, which further explores the issues of bullying for a
slightly more mature audience. Touching on more complex issues
such as sexism
and peer pressure, the play has had excellent reviews from
both High School and Primary School audiences and has had 447
performances to date.
The year 2000 saw the addition of Bully
Busters Junior with the lovable Beep and Pipsy
who have delighted our Pre Primary and Junior Primary children
with almost 200 performances!
All three Bully Buster shows are written by
Angelique Malcolm, an experienced Theatre In Education writer
and performer, well known for her plays for young people with their
own special type of humour.
