“ We lost our roof during the London Blitz so Archie
went down Australia House to talk to them about it. They said
they'd pay for our passage! Archie asked if they could pay
for our roof as well! No! they said, they'd pay for our ticket
to Australia and line Archie up wiv a job. Well, we thought
strike me! That's a good deal innit?" says Beth Barrie
from London.
“ Suitcase of Stories” is a rollicking one woman
show written and performed by award winning writer/actor Tiffany
Barton. It was commissioned by the Fremantle Maritime Museum
to explore the individual experiences of female migrants in
West Australia.

From high jinx on the high seas to stories of exploration, alienation,
cultural difference, loneliness and assimilation, Suitcase of Stories explores
the lives of 8 migrant women with humour and pathos. It will enable children
to understand the tremendous impact migration has had on the cultural life
of Australia, and is a celebration of cultural diversity.
“ Tiffany performed with an exuberant positivity and the transformation
that she exacted from within each character was remarkable”
